NOTES: -
That makes a total of 19 aircraft as of November 2008. Many of these only fly occasionally and several may in fact be withdrawn from use by now. I therefore suspect that there are far fewer remaining in "regular" service. Select Leasing's aircraft also look like their flying lives are coming to an end. I have now transferred 9Q-CSJ to the stored fleet page along with XA-CMG. Libavia's 1-11 5A-DKO has also been transferred to the stored fleet page.
As of November 2008 I have removed the Select Leasing 1-11s to the stored fleet page as none of them appear to have flown for at least six months unless anyone can tell me otherwise. N111JX and N200EE were active until May but haven't been reported flying since then at all. The fleet of three had been for sale for a couple of years but it appears that a buyer hasn't been found. The last I heard, the three aircraft were parked in the company hangar at Waukesha Crites Field in an immaculate condition!
The Royal Air Force of Oman have retired 551 from service. It will be used for spares.
The former Chanchangi 1-11 5N-BCG appears to have escaped from Nigeria! It is reportedly flying with Trast Aero!
MIA Airlines have sold their 1-11 YR-CJL cn 086 to Tombouctou Aviation as TZ-BSB. It is based at Bamako in Mali. It has now been joined by YR-MIA cn 260 which has been re-registered as TZ-BSA. They are maintained by Jet Technics at Bucharest Baneasa.
Big news in January 2006 was that four stored aircraft in Bucharest Otopeni returned to service! UN-B1111 has flown back to its former base at Almaty Kazakhstan and is now operated by GST Aero / East Wing. It is now registered as UN-B1110!!! Meanwhile 5A-DKO, previously VP-BBA, left for its new base at Tripoli Mitiga on the 12 Oct 2006.and is operated by Libavia. Two former Tarom airframes YR-BCJ cn 253 and YR-BRC cn 403 have been returned to service at Romavia's facility. They have been re-registered as EX-086 and EX-103. They are now operated by a company called Trast Aero / Aquiline International Corporation and are based in Bishkek Kyrgyzsatan. The first aircaft EX-086 cn 253 was delivered on the 28th April. The second followed on the 7th September. They were wet leased to SCAT Air Company and based at Almaty, Kazakhstan during 2007 but have now been returned. One aircraft, EX-086, was leased to Djibouti Airlines during April / May 2008..
At Bournemouth former Aravco 1-11s G-MAAH and VP-CCG have been delivered to Bucharest Baneasa, G-MAAH on the 31st January 2006 and VP-CCG on 7th March 2006 where they joined the MIA Airlines fleet. VP-CCG will be used for spares only. G-MAAH had its UK registration cancelled on the 23rd March 2006. It has now been re-registered as YR-HRS.
ZS-NUJ has been sold to ITAB and is now registered as 9Q-CDY. The airframe was being used for scheduled flights between Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Johannesburg as of May 2005 but this was short lived. It is now operated by Compagnie Africaine D'aviation. It has been grounded since 8 March 2008 and awaits a new engine. As of September 5th this situation hasn't changed!
I have removed Kori Air 1-11 N789CF from the current fleet as there is no evidence whatsoever that it is still flying.
Romavia are operating YR-BRE for the Romanian Government. During 2007 it carried out trials with stage three hushkits fitted. Certification didn't take place and by the end of the year it was flying without hushkits once again. Although placed in storage for a considerable period of time, YR-BRI has returned to service and continues to operate "Ad Hoc" charters including trooping flights to Basra in Iraq and Kabul in Afganistan.
Aravco sold VP-CLM to Jetline. It departed from Hurn to Bucharest Otopeni on the 15th August 2003. It has sadly been scrapped!
The following aircraft have been fitted with a stage three hushkit. N17MK, VP-CCG, YR-CJL, N999BW, N111JX. These were installed by Quiet Technology Aerospace who are based at Opa Locka Florida. A sixth and seven aircraft YR-HRS and YR-MIA have now joined them. Their kit was installed at Bucharest Baneasa by Jetline Technics. http://www.jetlinetechnics.ro/
Grupo Adelac have taken delivery of the former Ashmawi Aviation 1-11 cn 183 ex VP-CMI. It was re-registered as XA-ADC and is the second 1-11 to carry this registration. The other XA-ADC, cn 084 is in storage at San Antonio. In July 2006 XA-ADC was re-registered again as XB-JSC but it has since been registered as XB-JZX (now XB-KCE) and has now changed ownership. The company was considering putting a second 1-11 back into service, the aircraft in question being XA-CMG cn 079. It had been stored at Orlando Sanford for several years, but has now finally arrived at Toluca. Although it has been resprayed it doesn't appear to have returned to service. As of October 2007 I believe that this airframe is still up for sale. It is therefore now listed as stored.
Chrome Air's 5N-UJC was seen in Lagos in November 2005 parked on the ramp covered in dust. It originally escaped the complete ban on the type, after the EAS crash, as it was only being operated as a freighter. The government apparently revoked the company's operating licence as of early 2005. It therefore now appears in the stored fleet page. As of Mar 2008 it is still intact at Lagos.
ZE433 is now listed as part of the QinetiQ Boscombe Down fleet. It is still a Radar Trials Aircraft. FR Aviation are the main "mission" contractor for the aircraft.
